The five-time champions in Mumbai Indians (MI) got a sign of relief after they beat SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their IPL 2024 match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With this seven-wicket win, the Hardik Pandya-led side continued their contention to the playoffs.
For the Mumbai Indians, while Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla were the pick of the bowlers, scalping three wickets each, it was a Suryakumar Yadav show that stole the limelight with a match-winning century. The 33-year-old stitched a crucial partnership with Tilak Varma and scored an unbeaten 102 off 51 deliveries to help the team register a seven-wicket win.
Soon after this victory, the Indian batter was seen making a video call to his wife, who was also present inside the stadium. The 33-year-old was quick to share his happiness with his “favourite person”, engaging in a conversation about a local Mumbai cricketer named Adhatrao.
During the conversation, the MI batter also shared an anecdote, revealing that whenever Adhatrao attends the match, he manages to score a century. The MI’s official handle took to X to share the video with the caption reading, “Saare achievements ek taraf, who phone call to your favourite person ek taraf. Hai na Dada (in hindi)”.

It was the need of the hour: Suryakumar Yadav after MI’s 7-wicket win
The 33-year-old opened up on crucial unbeaten ton at the post-match presentation. However, he also agreed that his century came after a really long wait.
"I have done this after a long time. I fielded for 20 overs and batted for 18 overs, only tired (nothing else to worry about). I feel it was the need of the hour for me. I went out to bat, needed someone to bat till the end. I just enjoyed my time. It’s from the Mumbai school of arts, have played a lot of cricket at Wankhede. When the ball stopped seaming, I played all my shots that I practice in the nets. I feel the intent would have been the same, I would have definitely played in the same pattern,” SKY said.
