After arriving in Delhi with the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, the Indian team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence - 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa on June 29 in the final of the T20 World Cup to end their 11-year ICC trophy drought in Bridgetown, Barbados.
But since then the Indian team has been stuck in the West Indies due to a Category-4 hurricane in the region. Then on July 3, Team India was flown out of Bridgetown in the Air India special charter flight AIC24WC - Air India Champions 24 World Cup and arrived in Delhi at 6 a.m. (IST) on July 4 after a 16-hour non-stop journey.
Team India reaches 7, Lok Kalyan Marg to meet PM Modi after World Cup win
After boarding at the ITC Maurya at around 9:00 AM, the Men in Blue left for the Prime Minister's residence at 10:30 AM and reached 7, Lok Kalyan Marg at around 10:45 AM. Here the team will be felicitated by the Prime Minister. PM Modi held a similar ceremony after India's successful campaign after the recent Asian Games.
After meeting the Prime Minister, the Indian team will travel to Mumbai for a grand parade which will start at Nariman Point and end at the Wankhede Stadium. Regarding this ceremony, the local police have made elaborate security arrangements as they expect a large number of fans are expected to gather to watch the procession, according to an official quoted by the PTI.
