Jemimah Rodrigues, the India middle-order batter, is playing her first season in Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) for Trinbago Knight Riders. She hasn’t had the most productive season as the player in Trinbago Knight Riders colours in the WCPL, managing only 44 runs in the first three games.

But, off the field, Jemimah Rodrigues, alongside her TKR teammates, paid tribute to one of the team owners’ Shah Rukh Khan.  They performed a dance from one of his movie songs, called "Lungi Dance" from Chennai Express.

The Australian all-rounder, Jess Jonassen, featured front and center while dancing on the Bollywood hit song with Jemimah Rodrigues, while the rest of her Trinbago Knight Riders teammates were also spotted in the background.

Moreover, the former WCPL winner registered their first win of the ongoing season against Guyana Amazon Warriors.  Both teams scored 128 runs each at the end of the game. The winners were separated through Super Over (One-Over Eliminator). After the win, the Trinbago Knight Riders players shot the video and it has been uploaded in the official Instagram of the team.

Jemimah Rodrigues sees WCPL as game time ahead of Women’s T20 World Cup

Ahead of the ongoing WCPL, Jemimah Rodrigues spoke about how she has been looking at the WCPL to get some game time ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

"These are the matches that I'm actually going to get before going and playing like proper team matches [T20 World Cup]," Rodrigues said at a media interaction organized by FanCode.

"I'm really looking forward to a few things that I'm working on to try and implement it here because when you do it in practice it's different. When you do it in a match, it's way different and franchise cricket has always excited me," she added.

Rodrigues would be part of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in October this year. The tournament has been shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Bangladesh owing to unrest in the South Asian country a while back.
