At the go-home edition of WWE Raw for SummerSlam 2023, the long-standing rivalry between the Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and the Man Becky Lynch was expected to get its rematch for the upcoming PLE at Detroit. But, the events that unfolded at the Toyota Center on July 31, Monday, changed the complexion of the highly south-after feud altogether.

Becky Lynch showed up to Houston, looking for a rematch against Trish Stratus, after getting defeated by her at the WWE Night of Champions on May 27 from the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia, due to the interference of Zoey Stark. Shortly after the demand from the Man, Trish Stratus came out to her music on Raw, alongside her newest protege.

The Hall of Famer went on to state that she thought about fighting Becky Lynch but at her own time. Then, Trish Stratus assured her that she won’t cheat her out of the match while taking a savage dig at Houston Astros in front of their home fans.

It led to Adam Pearce, the authority figure on WWE Raw, interrupting the face-off between the two superstars while making their rematch official, happening immediately. But, before Lynch was about to square off against Stratus in Houston, Stark forced a disqualification after attacking the Man. Shortly after, the Hall of Famer and her protege beat down Becky Lynch to close out the segment.

When Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark were enjoying their handiwork backstage, Adam Pearce made an appearance once again, to make the match between the Hall of Famer and the Man official in two weeks on Raw at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba while barring the protege from ringside.

Fans criticize WWE's booking

It led to a plethora of criticism for the promotion from fans online, who were looking forward to watching Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus wrestle at WWE SummerSlam from the Ford Field in Detroit on August 5. Some of the viral tweets criticizing WWE booking are here:

WWE faced a similar sort of backlash in February 2015, when the fans demanded the company let women’s wrestlers have more TV time, with a social media trend called, “Give Divas A Chance.”
