The reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are hosting Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 61 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. While it is CSK’s last league stage match on their home turf at Chepauk, it proves to be a crucial one for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side seeing the intense battle for the IPL 2024 playoffs spot. 

Earlier in the match RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first. After opting to bat first, CSK drew the first blood in Yashasvi Jaiswal in the seventh over. But the other RR opener, Jos Buttler also could not stay long in the middle as he fell to a brilliant catch from Tushar Deshpande.

In the ninth over of the RR inning, Tushar Deshpande, who was positioned at fine leg, ran towards his right to complete a fine sliding catch and dismiss Jos Buttler at the score of 21 off 25 deliveries. The video of his brilliant efforts is now doing rounds on social media with IPL also sharing the video with the caption, “Run 👉 Slide 👉 Celebrate 🔝 effort from Tushar Deshpande”.

Jos Buttler completes 3000 runs in IPL as opener

The England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler on Sunday, during the match against CSK completed 3000 runs as an opener in IPL. Moreover, the RR opener has amassed 338 runs off 10 innings at an average of 42.25 and a strike rate of 146.95. Buttler’s highest score of unbeaten 107 came against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
