During match number 24 of the 2024-25 Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes at Ninja Stadium, Nikhil Chaudhary’s shot almost hit the leg umpire Sharad Patel as he was in the path of the ball. In the 12th over of the Hurricanes’ innings, Nikhil played a sweep shot against D’Arcy Short, but found umpire Sharad Patel standing in the way.
With very little time to react to the shot, umpire Sharad Patel quickly moved aside and ended up falling on the ground. However, the Hurricanes’ batter had to settle for a single as a fielder was already standing on the boundary. After that, the leg umpire also gave a thumbs up to everyone, indicating that he is alright.
