On June 27, India defeated defending champions England to advance to the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. After being invited to bat first, the Men in Blue posted a decent score of 171 in their 20 overs, courtesy a 57-run knock from skipper Rohit Sharma along with a crucial 36-ball 47 from Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian bowlers then restricted their English counterparts, reducing them to 103/10 in 16.4 overs

With this, not only India entered their first T20 World Cup final since 2014, ending their 10-year wait, Rohit Sharma also became the only second captain after Kane Williamson to lead the side in the final of an ICC tournament, across formats. During the all important match of the tournament, a player like Jasprit Bumrah was in news after he was ignored by an umpire.

In one of the on-field moments, which took place after Bumrah trapped Jofra Archer for a lbw to bundle out England at the score of 103, one of the on-field umpires kept Bumrah waiting, eventually snubbing him for a handshake. Although, the rest of the players came in and shook hands with the umpire, Bumrah was ignored by him and video of this moment is going viral on social media.

The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will take on South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday, June 29 in the summit clash of the T20 World Cup 2024.
