Indian bowlers were on fire in the first T20I against Sri Lanka as they bowled out the opposition for 160 in the chase of 163. While it was debutant Shivam Mavi who stole the show with his four-wicket haul, Umran Malik too provided two crucial breakthroughs for India. The J&K pacer first accounted for Charith Asalanka in his second over. He then removed Dasun Shanaka, who was standing in India’s way to victory.
In the last over of his spell, Malik troubled Shanaka with his raw pace. However, the Sri Lanka captain found a way to hit a six off Malik’s second ball. The pacer then made a comeback as he bowled a searing yorker on the next ball. On the fourth delivery of the over, Malik bowled on the good length and at a speed of 155 kmph. Shanaka tried to hit through the line but could only manage to hand a catch to Yuzvendra Chahal who was stationed at extra cover.
Malik was chuffed to bits having produced a much-needed breakthrough for his team. The pacer celebrated it by spreading his arms like wings and running all the way through. It looked like Malik emulated former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar’s famous celebration where the speedster used to blow a kiss and then spread his arms.
