San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama pulled a massive block on Giannis Antetokounmpo as the Bucks outlasted the Spurs in a 125-121 thriller. Even though the Spurs failed to make a mark at home on Thursday, Wembanyama became the center of the night, especially when he pulled an emphatic block on Antetokounmpo in a one-of-its-kind clash. This was the first time that two of the biggest NBA names encountered each other on the court.

While there were several highlighting points in the entire game, one of the most notable highlights came in the fourth quarter of the clash. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, when the score between Bucks and Spurs read 124-121, Antetokounmpo held the ball near midcourt. When Brook Lopez came out to set a screen, the Greek Freak attacked the rim, charging directly at Wembanyama.
The 29-year-old then backed the rookie down, but the latter went up to challenge Antetokounmpo’s slam dunk and was able to swat the ball away. In the game, Antetokounmpo went off for 44 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block. On the other hand, Wembanyama, who was celebrating his 20th birthday, finished with 27 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a total of five blocks.
After the match, Antetokounmpo praised his rival and said, "[Wembanyama is] an unbelievable talent. Can score at will any time he wants, and plays to win. It was great playing against him."
