Rohit Sharma-led Team India ended their 13-year trophy drought in the ICC events after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies in June 2024. On Thursday, the Indian team reached Mumbai and started the victory parade to celebrate with the fans. During the parade, India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli lifted the trophy together for the fans.
After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados, the players, their families, and support staff were stranded in Barbados due to a category four hurricane and returned to India after three days on Wednesday.
Following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi, Team India reached Mumbai, where they started the victory parade along the famous marine drive towards the Wankhede Stadium. A huge crowd of the Men in Blue's supporters flooded the streets to praise the team. To the fans' delight, Indian veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who recently announced their retirements from T20 internationals, lifted the trophy together.

After reaching the Wankhede Stadium, a felicitation ceremony took place, where the BCCI officials handed the Indian players a cheque of ₹125 crores. Speaking about the victory parade, the 35-year-old said, “This is something that I am never going to forget.”
On the other hand, Rohit said, "Mumbai never disappoints. The huge turnout of fans to welcome us shows they were as desperate for this T20 World Cup title as we were."
