Former India captain and modern day batting icon Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant displayed a heartwarming moment on the field. On the third day of the 1st Test against Bangladesh, Kohli and Pant displayed the camaraderie they share. Notably, Rishabh Pant has made his Test comeback after almost two years due to the fatal accident that took place in December 2022. On the other hand, Virat Kohli returned to the whites after missing the five-match series against England due to the birth of his son.
During the third-day action at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Kohli and Pant put on a display of their bond. While fielding against Bangladesh, Kohli was seen exchanging his sunglasses after a chat with Pant at the first slip. As per the video, the wicketkeeper-batter seemingly asked for the sunglasses and the latter gave it to him. Pant then removed his glasses and gave it to Kohli.
Rishabh Pant makes triumphant comeback to Tests, Kohli fails
Rishabh Pant announced his comeback to the longest-format with a triumphant knock. He had already returned to competitive cricket earlier this year. The 26-year-old came up with a decent performance in the first innings of his side, where he scored 39 runs off 52 deliveries. However, in the second innings, the youngster came up with a remarkable century as he scored 109 runs off 128 deliveries.
On the other hand, Kohli could not do magic in his Test return. The talismanic batter managed to score only six runs in the first innings. In the second innings, he was expected to make a comeback; however, he fell prey to Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s delivery and returned to the pavilion for 17 runs off 37 deliveries.
