Star Indian and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter, Virat Kohli was seen in his best as he guided his side to their maiden victory in the season. Playing the season opener against defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens, the red and the gold powered to a comfortable win, courtesy an unbeaten 59 off 36 deliveries from Virat Kohli.
Phil Salt gave RCB a quick start, playing a 56-run knock, which came off just 31 deliveries. In five overs, the opening duo of Salt and Kohli put up 75 runs on the board, which included Kohli hitting back-to-back sixes off Spencer Johnson’s over.

After Phil Salt smashed Varun Chakravarthy for 21 runs in the fourth over, Virat Kohli, who took the strike in the fifth over, did not leave any stone unturned. He welcomed Spencer Johnson with a six over long-off. It seemed he wasn’t done yet, as he unleashed his prowess for another maximum.

However, Kohli was close to ending his innings in the sixth over, but a drop effort from Ramandeep Singh just gave a sigh of relief to Kohli who then went onto score 59* runs on the board. On the back of his unbeaten knock, RCB registered a comfortable win with seven wickets in hand and 22 balls to spare.
The Bengaluru-based franchise will next take on five-time champions, Chennai Super KIngs (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 28.
