Rohit Sharma-led Team India finally etched history as they became the first team to win three ICC Champions Trophy titles, surpassing the likes of Australia, who have so far won only two titles in this marquee tournament. Riding on the back of captain Rohit Sharma’s 76-run knock, the Men in Blue cruised past the Kiwi challenge in tough Dubai conditions to lift the title, ending their 12-year-long wait.

While this in itself was a moment to cherish for the champion side, in another video making waves on social media, star Indian batter and veteran of the game, Virat Kohli also grabbed the eyeballs as he was seen touching star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami’s mother’s feet.

In a heartwarming moment, Kohli walked upto Mohammed Shami’s family and sought blessing from the pacer’s mother. Thereafter, he also posed for a picture with Shami’s family with the members of the Indian team having a broad smile on their faces after the title triumph.

Watch video of Virat Kohli’s heartwarming gesture:

The 36-year-old did not have a great day out in the middle with the bat. Coming out to bat when the Indian scorecard read 105/1 after Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 31 runs off 50 deliveries, Kohli could only manage to face two deliveries, scoring one run. However, his performance wasn’t synonymous to what it has been in the finals of 50-over format, where he has amassed 209 runs in 10 innings at an average of 23.22.

Although, with this win, Virat Kohli now has most ICC trophies along with Rohit Sharma, which is four. While Rohit Sharma have won the 2007 T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli on the other hand lifted the title in 2011 ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025 and the T20 World Cup 2024.
