Star West Indies batter and one of the greats of the game of cricket, Chris Gayle recently met Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi during the Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Holness’ visit to India. The Caribbean hard-hitter took to social media to share a glimpse of his meeting with the dominant political leader and other diplomats of the country on his visit.
It is to be noted that Gayle accompanied the Jamaican PM along with other key dignitaries on their visit to India. While it was the first-ever bilateral visit of a Prime Miniter of Jamaica to India, Gayle has been visiting the subcontinent over the years for his cricketing career.

The 45-year-old legend has been one of sport’s biggest ambassadors to India from Jamaica and Caribbean as a whole. Taking to Instagram, Gayle shared pictures from the meeting at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi with the caption reading, “Honor to have met with the Prime Minister of India @narendramodi. Jamaica To India #OneLove.”
Notably, the two nations held a bilateral meeting, followed by a delegation-level talks. Moreover, India and Jamaica share strong historical and cultural linkages, which are reflected in their shared past, passion for cricket, values of democracy and others.
Gayle, who has represented West Indies in international cricket, is one of the sport’s biggest ambassadors to India. The 45-year-old has scored 19.593 runs at an average of 37.97 in 483 international matches and 551 innings with 42 centuries and 105 fifties. Majorly known for his exploits in the shortest format of the game, Gayle became the top run-getter with 14,562 runs in 463 matches at an average of 36.22 with 22 centuries and 88 fifties.
