With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to start in a month’s time, the Cricket Australia (CA) on Wednesday, May 1 announced their 15-man squad for the marquee event. The showpiece-event will be played from June 1 to 29 in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA).
While Australia’s squad had some but obvious names with all-rounder Mitchell Marsh set to take the helm, despite Pat Cummins’ presence in the side. But in a unique gesture, this time around, the Australian cricket fraternity invited the 2007 World Cup winners to do the honours.
Apart from the likes of Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Glenn McGrath, Stuart Clark, Adam Gilchrist, Michael Clarke and Michael Hussey, Cricket Australia also invited Andrew Symonds children to fulfil his void in the side. “We weren’t sure how to announce this year’s @T20WorldCup squad, so we asked a few of our friends to do it for us ….,” CA captioned the post.

CA unveil brand-new kit for T20 World Cup 2024
Apart from announcing the 15-man squad for the marquee event, Cricket Australia also unveiled their brand-new jersey which the players will sport at the T20 World Cup 2024. The Aussies men will don a collar-less green and gold number jersey at the ninth edition of the tournament, set to be held in the USA and West Indies.
With this new green kit, the Aussies will officially end an era of the black T20 designs, first introduced in the 2011-12 summer.
