Rajasthan Royals created history after they roped in 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a whopping ₹1.1 Crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on November 25. With this, Suryavanshi became the youngest ever player to get an IPL contract. However, as soon as RR signed the young cricketer from Bihar, reports of age fraud and speculations of the player being older than 13 years started speculating.

Reacting to the claims Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s father Sanjiv Suryavanshi denied all the rumours related to age fraud and also challenged that his son can undergo an age test to prove himself right. “When he was 8 and half years old he first appeared for BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don't fear anyone. He can again undergo age test,” Sanjiv was quoted as saying by India Today.

I have sold my land: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s hails son after maiden IPL contract

Speaking further, Sanjiv Suryavanshi hailed his son Vaibhav for his maiden IPL contract. He also revealed that he had to sell his land so that Vaibhav can continue his cricket coaching. Coming at a base price of INR 30 Lakh in the mega auction, Vaibhav Suryavanshi got the first bid from Delhi Capitals before they were challenged by Rajasthan Royals. After a few more bids, DC backed out as RR roped him in for INR 1.1 Crore.

'Woh ab sirf humra bituwa nahi pura Bihar ka bituwa hai (He is not just my son now but entire Bihar's son). My son has worked hard. At the age of 8 years, he excelled at U-16 district trials. I would take him for his cricket coaching to Samastipur and then take him back,” Sanjiv Suryavanshi said.

'Not just investment, it's big investment. Aapko kya bataye humne toh apna zameen tak bech diya. Abhi bhi halat pura sudhra nahi (I have sold my land. Financial issues are still there),” he further added.
