Indian fans’ dream to see their team lifting the T20 World Cup 2022 was crushed on Thursday (10 November) as they suffered a humiliating defeat against England in the semifinal. India lost to England by ten wickets as the Rohit Sharma-led team failed to defend 168 runs in 20 overs. India could not manage to dismiss either of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales as the England openers walked away with an easy win.
With another elimination from an ICC event, fans as well as the players looked heartbroken. Captain Rohit Sharma was even seen in tears post the defeat. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was seen hiding his face with the cap as England hit the winning runs. Kohli was left disappointed as his efforts could not win it for India. The 33-year-old gave his best as he had promised a few months back (that his aim is to win Asia Cup and T20 World Cup).
But the end could not be the way he would have wanted. Now, sharing his emotions on the elimination, Kohli shared a post with a heartfelt caption. The former India captain said that the team leaves the Australian shores with disappointment in their hearts. But they can go back with the memorable moments they had.
“We leave Australian shores short of achieving our dream and with disappointment in our hearts but we can take back a lot of memorable moments as a group and aim to get better from here on. Thank you to all our fans who turned up in huge numbers throughout to support us in the stadiums. Always feel proud to wear this jersey and represent our country,” wrote Kohli.
