After losing the first T20I against West Indies, India lost another match at the Providence Stadium on Sunday by two wickets. West Indies chased down a decent total of 152 runs despite Tilak Varma's maiden half-century in international cricket. With the win on August 6, the Windies took a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
India lost the first game by four runs after failing to reach the target of 150 runs on Thursday. Two days later, the Men in Blue found themselves again at the losing end. Although, Yuzvendra Chahal turned the match in India's favour at a certain point by removing Jason Holder and Shimron Hetmyer in a single over, but West Indies managed to clinch the victory.
Batting first, India faced a shaking start by losing the wickets of Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav in short intervals as India went 18 for 2 in 3.3 overs, however, Ishan Kishan combined with Tilak Varma for 42 runs for the third wicket. After Kishan's wicket, Sanju Samson walked into the crease and stayed there for seven deliveries.
Meanwhile, Tilak Varma continued his strong form from the first T20I and went on to score his maiden international century. Varma scored 51 runs off 41 balls before getting dismissed by Akeal Hosein in the 16th over.
While chasing the target, Windies lost two early wickets in the first over, which was being bowled by the skipper Pandya. India looked strong at one point after dismissing three Windies' batsmen in the first four overs, however, Nicholas Pooran (67) and skipper Rowman Powell combined for 57 runs to put Windies back on track. Yuzvendra Chahal picked two crucial wickets in the 16th over to disbalance the opponent, but Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph held their nerves to win the game for West Indies with seven balls to spare.
