Indian team have announced their squad for the three-match T20Is, three-match ODIs and two-match Test series for their tour of South Africa which is set to happen from 10th December 2023 to January 2024. Here, in this article, we will have a look at major updates from the Indian team squad for all three series.
- Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the Indian T20I side in the three-match series against South Africa which will happen on the 10th, 12th and 14th December at Durban, Gqeberha and Johannesburg respectively.
Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Deepak Chahar have been included in the T20I squad who weren't part of the five-match T20I series against Australia.
- KL Rahul is set to lead team India in the three-match ODI series against South Africa which will happen on 17th, 19th and 21st December at Johannesburg, Gqeberha and Paarl respectively.
New Players like Sai Sudharsan, and Rajat Patidar have got a chance to play in this series while Sanju Samson after a long time has got a call back to the Indian team squad.
- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma aren't part of both the match T20I and three-match ODI series played against South Africa as they have requested the BCCI board for a break for this series from the white-ball tournament.
- Shubman Gill also isn't part of the three-match ODI series against South Africa and Jasprit Bumrah isn't part of both the three-match T20I and ODI series.
- Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back to play the two-match test series against South Africa which starts on 26th December at Centurion and the next Test will start on 3rd January at Cape Town.
- In the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, surprisingly both Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been dropped from the squad as they went on to include players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rututraj Gaikwad respectively.
- Mohammed Shami also isn't part of the T20I & ODI series which will be played against South Africa, but his availability to play the two-match Test Series has been subject to fitness.
- India A team squad has also been announced where they will be playing three games (1st four-day match,2nd three-day match and 3rd four-day match) against South Africa starting from 11th December. Notably, the opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran's availability for this series has been strictly subject to fitness.
