Just ahead of the start of the five-match Test series between India and England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, January 23 hosted the NAMAN Awards ceremony in Hyderabad. While  Shubman Gill (2022-23), Jasprit Bumrah (2021-22), and Mohammed Shami (2019-20) were awarded best men's international cricketer, players like Deepti Sharma (2019-20; 2022-23) and Smriti Mandhana (2020-21; 2021-22) won for best women's international cricketer.

BBL 2023-24: Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat

Moises Henriques-led Sydney Sixers will take on Nathan McSweeney's Brisbane Heat in the grand finale of the Big Bash League 2023-24 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Wednesday, January 24 at 2:10 p.m. IST. While the Sixers enter the final after a 39-run over the Brisbane Heat, the latter got past the Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger, registering a 59-run win to enter the final of the 2023-24 edition.  

SA20 2024: Joburg Super Kings vs Paarl Royals

Faf du Plessis-led Joburg Super Kings are scheduled to face David Miller's Paarl Royals at the Wanderer's Stadium in Johannesburg on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. IST. Both the teams will enter this fixture after a win in their respective last matches. Speaking of the standings in the SA20 2024, while the Paarl Royals comfortably sit at the top of the table with four wins from five games, the Super Kings are fifth with just a solitary win so far in the tournament. 

ILT20 2024: Gulf Giants vs Desert Vipers

James Vince-led Gulf Giants will host Colin Munro's Desert Vipers in Match 7 of the ILT20 2024. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, January 24 at 8:00 p.m. IST at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Although both teams will enter this fixture on the back of a loss in their respective games, the Giants are still placed third while the Vipers reel at the bottom of the table.

Mulder, Marcus Stoinis and Noor Ahmed help Durban Super Giants end their losing streak; win by 36 runs 

A crucial cameo from Wiaan Mulder followed by three-fers from Marcus Stoinis and Noor Ahmad helped Durban Super Giants inflict a convincing 36-run defeat on MI Cape Town - their third in the last four games. MICT managed to keep DSG to a modest 157/6 but it proved more than enough on a tricky surface where the home side could muster only 121/9 in reply.

WPL 2024 to be played from February 23 until March 17

The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is all set to kickstart from February 23 in Bengaluru with the final set to be played on March 17 in Delhi. The 2024 edition will see the inaugural champions Mumbai Indians face Delhi Capitals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru at 7:30 p.m. IST in the tournament opener.

Suresh Raina picks Rishabh Pant in his T20 World Cup 2024 team 

The former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has picked the wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant in his T20 World Cup 2024 team for India if he gets fit for the marquee tournament this summer. The 26-year-old is currently in his recovery phase at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after suffering multiple injuries in a car crash in December 2022.

Men’s T20I Team 2023: Suryakumar Yadav named captain; 4 Indians included

Top-ranked India have four players in the Men's T20I squad with Suryakumar Yadav being named captain. Yadav topped the runs chart with 733 runs in 18 matches at a 155.95 strike rate to consolidate his position at the top of the rankings. Uganda's Alpesh Ramjani became the first from his country to be named in an ICC Team of the Year.

CA orders investigation for Glenn Maxwell’s Adelaide incident

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has found himself in the cusp of controversy after he suffered a fall at the Governor Hindmarsh hotel on Friday night. The 35-year-old reportedly lost consciousness after the concert and required medical attention, which resulted in him being at the hospital, initiating the CA to seek investigation. 

Women’s ODI Team 2023: Chamari Athapaththu named captain; no Indian players

The Australian dominance in Women's ODI cricket is reflected in the team with five players featuring in it including rookie Phoebe Litchfield. Left-handed opener Chamari Athapaththu, for long the batting mainstay for Sri Lanka, has been named captain of the side while no Indian players were included in the 2023 Women's ODI Team.

Women’s T20I Team 2023: Spinner Deepti Sharma only Indian

Chamari Athapaththu had the distinction of being named captain of both the ODI and T20I squads while Beth Mooney, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Ellyse Perry, and Ash Gardner were other players to make both women's squads for the year. Top-ranked Sophie Ecclestone's 23 wickets in the year and third-ranked Deepti Sharma's 21 wickets saw them clinch the two spinners' slots.

Shoaib Bashir’s arrival delayed due ahead of Test series vs India

In another major update ahead of the India vs England Test series, spinner Shoaib Bashir is yet to arrive in India. The 20-year-old uncapped spinner was grounded in Abu Dhabi due to visa issues. “Bash will join us hopefully tomorrow, he’s got a couple of issues with his visa coming through. We’re confident on the back of the help from BCCI and the Indian government,” Brendon McCullum said.
