Borussia Dortmund icon Marco Reus, who has been with BVB through thick and thin, has recently announced his departure from the German club at the end of the season. Reus spent 12 years at the Signal Iduna Park and has decided to leave the club as a free agent as his contract is set to expire in June 2024.

Lionel Messi wins MLS Player of the Month Award for April 2024

Lionel Messi, who is back to his full fitness, led MLS with 10 goal contributions (six goals, four assists) during April 2024. His contribution came from four matches, which were the most in MLS while leading the Inter Miami squad with a 3-0-1 record. 

Diego Maradona’s children call for moving footballer’s body to mausoleum

Diego Maradona’s children filed a request with the Argentina Courts on Thursday, May 2 to move the former football great’s body from the private cemetery “to much safer place” in a mausoleum, under construction in Buenos Aires. This comes as the late footballer’s children aims to keep it for fans so that they can pay tribute to him. They made the request to a court in San Isidro in a letter quoted on Thursday by local media in which they indicated that it comes from “all the heirs” of the soccer star, who died in 2020.

Salima Tete replaces Savita Punia as captain of Indian women’s hockey team

Midfielder Salima Tete has replaced experienced goalkeeper Savita Punia as captain of the 24-strong Indian women's hockey squad for the FIH Pro League matches in Belgium and England, which begin later this month. Navneet Kaur has been selected as Salima's deputy. "I am happy that I have been appointed to lead the team. It is a big responsibility, and I am looking forward to this new role. We have a strong squad and it's a mix of experienced and young players," Tete said as quoted in Hockey India’s press release.

Daniil Medvedev doubtful for French Open 2024 after being forced out of Madrid Open quarterfinals

World No. 4 Daniil Medvedev on Thursday withdrew from his Madrid Open 2024 quarterfinals match with injury concerns. The Russian received treatment on the upper part of his right leg while leading Czech Jiri Lehecka 3-2 in the first set. However, he eventually lost the set 6-4 and informed the umpire that he could not continue.
