Sumit Antil and Pushpendra Singh clinch gold and bronze in Javelin Throw-F64
Indian athletes Sumit Antil and Pushpendra Singh clinched gold and bronze medals in the men’s Javelin throw F-64 final on Day 3 of the Asian Para Games 2023. With his gold-medal throw, Sumit broke the Asian Para Games record, World record and Asian record in the event with a throw of 73.29m. He reached the mark in his third attempt of the day and clinched a gold medal.
Pushpendra Singh, on the other hand, clinched the bronze with a throw of 62.06m.

India PM Narendra Modi congratulated Para Archers Harvinder Singh and Sahil for securing the Bronze medal in the Men's Doubles Recurve event at the Asian Para Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China.
Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the archers and wrote, “Congratulations to our Para Archers, Harvinder Singh and Sahil, for winning the bronze medal in Men's Doubles Recurve - Open at the Asian Para Games. Their incredible performance and precision with the arrow have made India proud. India celebrates their well-deserved achievement with immense excitement.”
Nitesh Kumar, Thulasimathi Murugesan secure bronze in badminton mixed doubles
The medal rush for the Indian contingent continued to pour in as Nitesh Kumar, Thulasimathi Murugesan won a bronze medal in Badminton Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5. With this, they took the medal tally to 34, where India stood on the top 5 list of countries in the Para Games after China, Iran, Japan, and Uzbekistan.
Prachi Yadav clinches gold in Canoe women’s KL2 final
India’s Prachi Yadav continued her medal run at the fourth Asian Para Games 2022 in Hangzhou, the Republic of China. After winning a silver in the women’s VL2 final, Yadav secured the yellow metal in women’s KL2 event by clocking a time of 54.96 seconds. In the Canoe men’s KL3 event, Manish Kaurav secured a bronze medal with a timing of 44.60 seconds.

Satwik-Chirag, PV Sindhu storm into second round of French Open 2023
Indian shuttlers got off to a good start at the French Open 2023 as the world number 1 pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stormed into the second round of the tournament. On the other hand, PV Sindhu defeated Indonesia’s Georgia Mariska Tunjung to make it to the next round of women’s singles at the Super 750 badminton tournament. The Indian pair of Sat-Chi took down the world number 34 pair of Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar 21-13, 21-13 in a lop-sided match.

Anwar Ali doubtful of World Cup qualifiers after suffering injury during AFC Cup
India’s centre-back Anwar Ali suffered a serious injury during the Mohun Bagan and Bashundhara Kings AFC Cup clash on October 24, Tuesday. Towards the end of the match played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, Ali clashed with an opposition player and suffered a blow on his ankle. Though there are no updates related to the injury, Ali is doubtful of playing in India’s World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.
Sandro Tonali to receive 10-month ban over Italian football betting scandal: Reports
Sandro Tonali will receive a 10-month ban after being found guilty in a betting scandal alongside fellow Italian midfielder Nicoló Fagioli. Tonali had admitted to placing bets on Brescia and AC Milan as a player. After the verdict, Tonali’s legal team have been negotiating about the duration of the ban which will be confirmed in the coming hours, with all parties keen to finalise proceedings.

UFC 295: Jon Jones ruled out of heavyweight bout against Stipe Miocic with injury
UFC heavyweight bout between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones has been called off after Jones suffered a brutal pectoral tendon injury. Miocic and Jones were set to fight on November 11 in New York’s Madison Square Garden as the main event of UFC 295. Jones got injured during a training session and will miss around eight months.
