Former Barcelona player Dani Alves sentenced to jail for four and half years
Former Barcelona player Dani Alves has been sentenced to four and a half years imprisonment. Alves was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022. In a statement, the court said, "The sentence considers that it has been proven that the victim did not consent and that there is evidence, in addition to the testimony of the plaintiff, to consider the rape proven." The prosecutor had been seeking a nine-year prison term.

Indian women’s and men’s table tennis teams secure historic Paris Olympics quota
The Indian men’s and women’s table tennis teams created history by securing the hard-earned Paris Olympics 2024 quota. It will be the first time that India will qualify for the marquee event in table tennis since it was included at the Beijing Olympics 2008. Table Tennis Federation of India General Secretary Kamlesh Mehta said, “The men’s and the women’s teams played very well and we’re proud of them. We’re waiting for the official announcement that we have qualified for the Paris Olympics, which will come on the 5th of March.”
