Leander Paes and Vijay Amritraj dance to Hall Of Fame after International Tennis HOF induction

India's tennis greats Leander Paes and Vijay Amritraj showed off their dance moves after being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Both these greats carried Indian tennis on the international stage and massively impacted the sport globally. Alongside Paes and Amritraj, British sports journalist Richard Evans was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in  Newport, Rhode Island. Leander and Vijay were the first Asian men in their category to be nominated as members of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Hence after their induction, the Indian duo danced to the popular song Hall of Fame by The Script in a video shared by Vijay's son  Prakash Amritraj.

Inter Miami honours Lionel Messi after his record 45th title win at Copa America 2024

Inter Miami honoured Argentine football great Lionel Messi after he became the only football player in history to win his 45th career trophy following a win at Copa America 2024. Messi, now the most decorated player, came off injured in Argentina’s 1-0 win against Colombia in the final. The ceremony took place ahead of Miami’s MLS clash against the Chicago Fire on Sunday, July 21 (IST). The tribute ceremony by Inter Miami had 45 child mascots each holding a plaque card depicting each trophy won by the 2022 FIFA World Cup winning captain.

Bhaichung Bhutia resigns from AIFF technical committee after Manolo Marquez’s appointment as head coach

Former Indian footballer and captain of the national team,  Bhaichung Bhutia stepped down from his post with the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) technical committee. This decision from Bhutia came on Saturday, July 20, soon after the Blue Tigers got their new coach in  Manolo Marquez. Moreover, Bhutia’s decision comes just hours after the AIFF announced Manolo Marquez as India’s head coach, citing dissatisfaction with the committee being bypassed. It is to be noted that Marquez, who currently manages FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) replaced Croatian Igor Stimac. The latter was sacked from the position on June 17 after India failed to progress into the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. 

AIFF appoints Manolo Marquez as new senior men’s team head coach

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) appointed Spanish manager Manolo Marquez as the new head coach of the senior men’s football team on Saturday, July 20. The current coach of FC Goa, Marquez, will replace Igor Stimac, who was sacked by AIFF after India crashed out of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Marquez will continue his role with FC Goa and will begin his full-time duties with the national side in June 2025 before his contract with the Goan side comes to an end. Following it, Marquez will shift his full attention towards the national side. Marquez, 55, has been working in the ISL since 2020, having managed Hyderabad FC in past. He has also been the coach of Spanish club Las Palmas in La Liga.

British sprinter Odey-Jordan slows down while approaching finish line; gets eliminated

During the European Athletics U18 Championships 2024 in Slovakia, an incident took the internet by storm, shocking the world and recalling fans and enthusiasts of the saying “never celebrate too early”. A British teen, who took a considerable lead in the 200m race at the European Athletics U18 Championships 2024, took a foot off the pedal way too early. All was well until he slowed down while nearing the finish line and was later left stunned as he finished among the last. Jake Odey-Jordon of Great Britain dominated the track in heat four, but was well out of front with just 50m to go, leading to his fellow runners taking the top spot.

We're on the tube: Team USA superstars take London Underground before win over South Sudan

A few members of the USA Men's basketball team ditched the luxury transport before defeating a scrappy South Sudan team and decided to take the tube to reach the O2 Arena in London. Team USA have been on a worldwide tour ahead of the Paris Olympics which included a stop in London where they took on a young and upcoming South Sudan side that put forth a brilliant performance. The video of this tube journey was shared by Tatum on his Snapchat with the caption, "We're on the tube!”

Ahead of Team USA's hard-fought 101-100 win over South Sudan in London, LeBron James and  Kevin Durant shared a hilarious moment which has gone viral on social media. In their pre-Olympics tour of exhibition games, the USA faced off against an upcoming South Sudan side which took the defending champions to the limits. But before this match, USA teammates  LeBron James and Kevin Durant were involved in a hilarious highlight. As James performed his iconic pre-game route a bit of the chalk dust from the toss went towards KD. Reacting to this mishap, the Phoenix Suns star hilariously acted as if the dust had gone into his eyes.

Sergio Perez crashes in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying amid horrible season

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez suffered a dramatic high-speed crash in the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday, July 20. The Mexican driver lost control in turn 8 and ended up hitting the wall. This crash further blew his hopes of avoiding the Red Bull axe. With the summer break fast approaching, rumours have been going around that the team owners could make a change, casting doubt on his tenure with the team. The incident occurred during the Q1 session after him having started the session strongly and set a time of 1:17.886 on the timesheet.
