English football club Nottingham Forest lost their appeal regarding a four-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). Premier League released a statement confirming this decision. The statement said, "The PSR sanction applied to the assessment period ending season 2022/23 and was appealed by the club on two grounds. The club argued that the independent commission committed an error in not treating its sale of a high-profile player shortly after the assessment period as a mitigating factor and that it committed a further error in electing not to suspend some or all of the points deduction it imposed.
Referee to wear camera for first-time in Premier League during Crystal Palace vs Manchester United
On Monday, May 6, the Premier League announced that the referee will be wearing a “RefCam” for the first time ever during Manchester United’s trip to Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace later today. The referee Jarred Gillett will don the camera for the Premier League “as part of the filming for a one-off short programme promoting match officials.” As per the press release from the Premier League, the footage from the “RefCam” during Crystal Palace versus Manchester United, will not be broadcast live. It will be available for viewing “later in the year as part of a programme being produced by Premier League Productions (PLP) aimed at offering further insight and education into the demands of officiating in the Premier League.”
