Boxing Day falls on December 26 every year and is often associated with British empire in many countries. This day falls on the next day after Christmas and is one of the important days to return Christmas gifts, conduct charity drives. Earlier, it started as a day to present gifts to the household staff in Britain's upper-class  families but has now been  morphed to a shopping holiday for many.

The term ‘Boxing Day’ was first used in the year 1833 but the origin has been determined to the exact date. As the household staff, messenger boys and others were busy preparing for the festivities, this day was given to them with paid time off and small gift boxes in return as a show of appreciation for their service.

However, nowadays, Boxing Day is synonymous with holiday shopping, good ties and sports. Boxing, football, horse racing and cricket matches are the choice that brings family together.  In Australia, Boxing Day usually has a Test match each year, in the UK, this day sees football matches sand horse racing.
