Team India released the jerseys for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday, 18 September. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted photos of their apparel on Twitter as the jersey has subtle tones of Azure Blue with sleeves featuring Royal Blue.


The jersey also has shades of the iconic blue colour that gives the Indian team its ‘Men in Blue’ nickname. India will showcase their new threads in the upcoming T20I series against Australia and South Africa. Talking about the design of the jersey, the kit sponsor addressed how it is a homage to fans, from various walks of life across the country who continue their undying support for the team. The release further talked about how the triangles on the jersey symbolise a combination of energy, spirit and power. 



The statement released by the kit sponsor said, "The jersey pays homage to the legions of fans that span different genders and age groups and transcend geographical borders. It is styled with a pattern of equilateral triangles - a universal symbol of the blend of energy, spirit and power - that celebrates the unswerving support of the fans who have stood behind the team through thick and thin.”


The pictures posted by the BCCI on their official social media handles consist of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. Similarly, Renuka Singh and captain Harmanpreet Kaur were among the players from the women's team in the picture.

Team India will be now gearing up to take on Australia in a T20I series which will be starting on 20 September. The first match of the series will be played in Mohali. Fast bowlers Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah are set to make a comeback to the team . While seamer Umesh Yadav has also been named in the squad as a replacement for Mohammed Shami.
