After the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which saw India lose the final to Australia by six wickets, the international cricket will keep forging ahead with matches coming thick and fast in all formats. The next major ICC event in senior men’s cricket will happen in the summer of 2024, when the T20 World Cup will make its biennial return, where the Indian cricket team are going to compete against the world’s best in the shortest format of the game.
The schedule of Team India before the T20 World Cup is going to be gruelling to say the least, such is the constant demand for cricket in all formats of the game. If the focus is on just the T20Is, the Indian cricket team is set to play against Australia in a five-match series starting from November 23 in Visakhapatnam, just four days after the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad.

India will be competing in the fifth and final T20I of the series against Australia in Bengaluru on December 3, and then, just a week later, they will be in South Africa to partake in the three-match T20I series. On December 10, the Men in Blue will compete against the Proteas at the Kingsmead in Durban before the next two T20Is come within a day’s gap of each other.
From this point onwards, as of this writing, Team India will get the chance of playing only three T20Is until the T20 World Cup in June, which will happen just after the South Africa tour finishes. Afghanistan will arrive on the Indian shores to challenge the hosts, with the first match happening in Chandigarh on January 11 before the three-match series finishes on January 17.
Also, the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will happen during the March-June window, which will be the last stop for the players of Team India to gain some T20 experience before the T20 World Cup comes around. All in all, the Men in Blue are expected to play a truckload of cricket in the build-up to the next ICC tournament, scheduled to happen in the USA and Caribbean.
