India’s most celebrated fast bowler, Zaheer Khan will turn 46 on October 8, 2024. However, just a day prior to his real birthday, wishes poured in from all over, hailing the former cricketer’s remarkable past in the Indian cricket team. Often known for his ability to swing both with the new as well as old ball, his cricketing career left an undeniable mark in the history of the sport.
On Monday, October 7, several members of the cricketing fraternity, along with the IPL franchises dropped wishes for the former cricketer, but amid all this, an old post of legendary Sachin Tendulkar surfaced where he clarified that Zaheer Khan’s actual birthday falls on October 8 and not October 7.
Sachin clarifies Zaheer Khan’s real birthday
Former India captain, Sachin Tendulkar in 2020 took to social media to wish his ex-teammate on his birthday, while requesting him to spill beans on this mystery. “Yahaan pe bhi reverse swing Zak! Ab bata bhi de logon ko, ki your birthday is today and not on the 7th! 😋 Wishing you a very happy birthday my friend,” he captioned a post on X.
According to official records, Zaheer Khan was born on October 7 in Shrirampur, Maharashtra, but his actual birth date falls on October 8. Tendulkar’s claim was validated as time and again, Zaheer Khan’s wife, Sagarika Ghatge has wished the great Indian off-spinner on October 8.
In 2023, Sagarika took to social media to wish Zaheer Khan on his 45th birthday and accompanied it with some unseen pictures. “Happy birthday to the best human being in the world, who also doubles up as my best friend and husband. Thank you for dealing with me on a daily basis (I know it can be hard sometimes 😉). For everyone who thinks @zaheer_khan34 is always serious there is treat waiting for you - swipe right (sorry Zak),” she captioned the post.
Talking of the 45-year-old, he made his Test debut in November 2000 against Bangladesh and later went on to play 92 Tests, finishing with 311 wickets at an impressive economy of 3.27. In his ODI career, he played 197 matches, scalping 282 wickets at an economy of 4.93.
