Lionel Messi, the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner, confirmed on June 7, Wednesday, that he will be joining the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami after leaving the French club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this football season. The Argentine World Cup winner also revealed that his decision to play football in the United States of America is final with certain formalities yet to be completed.

Inter Miami is the 11-most valuable club in the MLS with a brand value of $600 million, which is set to increase once the team from the Eastern Conference gets “La Pulga” on the field at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is majority owned by Jorge Mas, while David Beckham, the legendary football player, who donned the jersey of Manchester United and Real Madrid in his heyday, co-owns the club and acts as its president.

Ever since Lionel Messi announced his move to MLS, there has been quite a talk in the footballing world about when he will make his debut for Inter Miami. T he 35-year-old footballer is expected to take a break to rest and recharge himself after a long European football season. He will then make his MLS debut for Inter Miami on July 21, when they play in the new Leagues Cup tournament against Cruz Azul, the club from Mexico, at home in the DRV PNK Stadium. The cheapest tickets for this match, which were selling for $29 prior to the announcement of Lionel Messi, have suddenly soared to $329.
