The FIFA World Cup 2022 is dawn and dusted as Argentina defeated France in penalties to lift their third World Cup title. While Argentina are enjoying their victory, players from other countries have started their training as the club competition will begin shortly and the January transfer window is also approaching that will see many big names changing sides in Europe.
Among all the big players, there is a large uncertainty about the 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo's future in Europe after Premier League giants Manchester United terminated his contract mid-season following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Ahead of the beginning of the FIFA World Cup 2022, Manchester United cut ties with legendary striker Cristiano Ronaldo, making the five-time Ballon d'Or winner a free agent. During the World Cup, Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr offered a whopping £ 173 million annual deal to secure his services. However, the Portuguese ended the rumours when a reporter asked Ronaldo during the World Cup.
After being knocked out of the World Cup by Morocco in the quarterfinals, Cristiano Ronaldo headed towards Real Madrid's training facility to maintain his fitness as many believed the all-time top scorer for Los Blancos will return to his former club, but the club and the player are yet to comment on the matter.
Premier League giants Chelsea have also shown interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo as the Todd Boehly-led management are desperate to solve their goal-scoring issues. Apart from that, French club Olympique de Marseille have also shown their interest in bringing the former Man United striker at the Orange Vélodrome. A move to the Ligue 1 will give rise to the new era of Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi rivalry.
Currently, Ronaldo is in Dubai with his family for the Christmas celebration and will look to secure a deal in the upcoming January transfer window.
