The full schedule of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, February 16, wherein the opening match is slated to happen between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 22. In the IPL 2025, 10 teams from different cities will lock horns to get their hands on the coveted title in the grand finale, which will be played on Sunday, May 25, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

A total 74 matches will be played throughout the season including 70 matches in the league stage. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs stage of the tournament, wherein the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 20 and 21 respectively, while the Qualifier 2 is scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 23, followed by the final two days later.

List of 13 venues to host IPL 2025 matches

  1. Eden Gardens, Kolkata - The home of the defending Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is set to host nine matches in the IPL 2025, including the opening match, Qualifier 2, and the grand final of the upcoming season of the tournament.

  2. Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad - Runners-up of the Iast IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be playing their seven home matches at their home stadium, while this venue will also be hosting the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator during the playoffs stage.

  3. MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai - Known as the Anbuden, one of the most iconic cricketing venues in the heart of Chennai will be playing host to seven home matches of the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings, welcoming the legendary MS Dhoni to his spiritual home.

  4. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai - Mumbai Indians (MI), who are five-time IPL champions, will be playing their seven home matches at a cricket stadium, which is placed in one of the most happening cities in the world.

  5. Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad - Gujarat Titans (GT), who won the IPL title in their first season in existence in 2022, will be looking to bounce back strongly after a poor last season, while pushing themselves to make their home stadium a fortress once again in seven matches set to be played there.

  6. M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru - Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are yet to win an IPL title in their long history, and one of the prime reason for their failure has been the inconsistent form at their home stadium, which they would want to rectify in their seven matches here in the 2025 season.

  7. Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow - Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), one of the newest franchises in the IPL will be playing all their seven matches at a venue, which is known for its indifferent pitch conditions, making it difficult for the hosts to sometime assess what’s going to happen next in a particular match.

  8. Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur - Rajasthan Royals (RR) have a very good home record in the IPL, which has been built in the heart of Jaipur over the past 17 years, although this season, they will be playing only five matches at their first home, while their other two home matches will be in Guwahati.

  9. Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati - The Northeastern city in the Assam state will be getting a couple of home matches of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 season, which will be happening against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

  10. Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi - Delhi Capitals (DC) have played tons of cricket in the heart of national capitals in IPL without great success, but this time around, their first home will be getting only five matches in the upcoming 2025 season, which could turn out to be a good thing if they start the tournament well in Visakhapatnam next month.

  11. Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam - In the coastal city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, DC will be played two of their home matches in March against LSG and SRH, to kick-start their IPL 2025 season, and it will be very interesting to see if they are able to take some good momentum into the remaining league stage matches from here.

  12. Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur - This is one of the newest cricket venues in the country, and during the last season of the IPL, Punjab Kings (PBKS) found it tough to adjust to conditions, and lost most of the games here, but they will like to improve upon this year when they play four of their home matches here.

  13. Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala - One of the picturesque grounds in the foothills of the Himalayas has been the second home of PBKS for a number of years, and at this venue, they haven’t done as badly as some of the other venues in the country over the course of the IPL history, which could easily change during their three home matches this season.
