Luka Modric, the Real Madrid midfielder, is reportedly set to leave the Spanish club at the end of the ongoing football season after a 12-year tenure. As per the speculation, the 38-year-old could head to the Saudi Pro League after turning down a lucrative contract from there last summer, or he could join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami too.
After joining Real Madrid from Tottenham in the summer of 2012, Luka Modric has played a whopping 512 across all competitions for the Galacticos, scoring 38 goals and providing 82 assists. He played a crucial role in helping the Spanish giants secure the elusive “La Decima,” winning the final of the UEFA Champions League 2013-14 against their city rivals Atletico Madrid by 4-1 after extra time.

In the year 2018, Luka Modric became the winner of the Ballon d’Or, peaking in club football with Real Madrid, and at the international level with Croatia, reaching the final of the FIFA World Cup. Overall, in the last 12 years, the Croat has enjoyed an incredibly successful career at Real Madrid, winning a lot of trophies, and he is still going strong.
Luka Modric is currently in the last six months of his contract with Real Madrid in the ongoing 2023-24 season, but he has still managed to contribute with one goal and six assists in 24 matches across all competitions. Although the limited starts for the 38-year-old in the Galacticos shirt, just 14 matches in total, it is highly likely that he will end up walking away from the Spanish club.
If the departure from Real Madrid happens to be the case, then Luka Modric might finally give the go-ahead to move to a Saudi Arabian club after turning a lucrative contract down a year prior. Joining Inter Miami to play with Lionel Messi could also prove to be a good option for the Croat in the twilight of his footballing career.
