At the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol tournament in Rio, Elavenil Valarivan won the women's 10-metre air rifle competition, earning her second gold medal with a score of 252.2. Oceanne Muller, a 20-year-old sensation from France, finished second with a score of 251.9, and Zhang Jiale, a competitor from China, took third place.

Elavenil had earned a spot in the final in the eighth and last position with a score of 630.5. Elavenil Valarivan now has two individual ISSF World Cup medals under his belt. The shooter, who is 24 years old, won the 10m air rifle gold at Rio in 2019.
When Elavenil was 13 years old, she became interested in shooting and initially experimented with the sport for amusement before starting to take it seriously. Elavenil was drafted into Gagan Narang's Gun for Glory Academy as soon as her shooting prowess was discovered while she was training at Sanskardham School DLSS in Ahmedabad.
