BCCI has announced a female moderator for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction which is scheduled to take place on February 13, 2023 in Mumbai. The board has named Malika Advani who is an art collector consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art and a partner in the Art India Consultants firm, Mumbai.

Previously for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions, the BCCI had enlisted Richard Madley, Charu Sharma, and Hugh Edmeades to conduct the proceedings. The board also released that each team must have a minimum of 15 players and spend at least INR 9 Crore from their INR 12 Crore purse.

The BCCI statement, as reported by Cricbuzz said, "The franchisees are reminded of the WPL squad rules with respect to a minimum (15) and maximum (18) squad size, minimum squad spend (INR 9 Crore) and the maximum number of overseas players in the squad (6)."
It is to be noted that the inaugural WPL auction will include 409 players out of which 246 are Indians and 163 overseas players and eight from the associate nations. The players will be presented in seven sets - marquee players, batters, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, spin bowlers and emerging players.
These 490 players have been registered in five different slabs of base prices - INR 50 Lakh, INR 40 Lakh, INR 30 Lakh, INR 20 Lakh and INR 10 Lakh. 24 players are part of the top bracket while thirty players have enrolled with INR 40 Lakh as their base price. The likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine and Deandra Dottin will have the highest base price in the auction.
The auction will see increment of INR 5 Lakh as the bid reaches INR 1 Crore. Then between
bids from INR 1 Crore to INR 2 Crore, the increments will be of INR 10 Lakh. The next bracket INR 2 Crore to INR 3 Crore will see an increment of INR 20 Lakh. After INR 3 Crore the increment will be based on the auctioneer's discretion but will remain under INR 20 Lakh.
