While Mumbai Indians have got off to the worst ever start to an IPL season after losing their first seven matches in a row, there have still been a few positives. The biggest of the lot has been the form of the 19-year-old Tilak Varma. In a line-up studded with batters like Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard, it is the left-handed batter who has scored the most number of runs this season.

As others have struggled to get going around him, Varma has scored runs with consistency and has produced the goods more often than not. In addition to his average of over 50 in the current edition of the tournament, his strike rate has also been impressive and has been clocked at over 140. Other than his ability with the bat, he could roll his arms over as a right-arm off-break bowler, if required by the captain.
