After starting the Day 1 with a bang, the Indian contingent has thumped their authority in the quadrennial event in Hangzhou. While Indian athletes bagged five medals on Day 1 after the Games were announced open on Saturday, 23rd September 2023.

But the Day 2 had an even better start as India claimed its first gold at the Asian Games 2023. India’s men’s 10m air rifle team comprising of Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the first gold for the country. On the back of their stunning performance in the team event, the Indian trio of Rudrankksh, Divyansh and Aishwary also shattered the world record.
The India trio achieved the aggregate of 1893.7 in the qualification round, surpassing the previous best of 1893.3 set by China at the World Championships in Baku (Azerbaijan) last month. While Rudrankksh Patil scored an impressive 632.5, Divyansh and Aishwary contributed with the score of 631.6 and 629.6 respectively.
