Noah Lyles, while speaking at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, expressed that NBA players shouldn’t call themselves World Champions when there are no other countries outside of the U.S. and Canada represented in the North American sports league.

“You know what hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘world champion’ on their head,” the 26-year-old track star said. “World champion of what? The United States? Don’t get me wrong, I love the U.S. at times. But that ain’t the world… There ain’t no flags in the NBA.”

Reacting to Noah Lyles comments reposted by DJ Akademiks, Drake commented, “He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before… now the whole league doesn’t rate u,” with laughing emojis.

Like Drake, renowned NBA broadcaster and T.V. personality Stephen A Smith, also slammed Noah Lyes for being ignorant with his comments regarding the NBA. “He came across as flagrantly ignorant. And that needs to be said,” Smith said on First Take. “Almost a third of the players are from around the world. One could easily argue that NBA players compete more against international competition than he does.”
