India thrashed West Indies in the first match of the three-match ODI series in Barbados. After a remarkable win against their rivals, the Men in Blue took on the Windies with the aim of clinching the series in the second game itself on July 29. The Indian team saw some changes in the squad as the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli were rested.

Shai Hope won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Hardik Pandya, who led the team in absence of Sharma and Kohli,  said “We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down. Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI.

"I think when you get someone out for 115, it's a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat.”

Notably, the Indians took down Windies by a margin of five wickets in the first of the three ODIs played on July 27. On Indian side, Ishan Kishan scored the highest as he hit 52 runs off 46 balls and Kuldeep Yadav was the highest wicket-taker as he pulled four wickets.
