India's shooter Sarabjot Singh revealed the reasons behind why he rejected the offer for a government job after winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Sarabjot and Manu Bhaker finished third in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The 22-year-old also came close to winning his second medal at the individual event but missed a very small margin.
Following his return to India, the Haryana government offered him a job as a token of appreciation. However, Sarabjot decided to not take up the offer. The shooter revealed he wanted to focus on shooting and doesn't want to go against the decisions he has made right now.
Why did Sarabjot Singh reject government job after bronze medal win?
"The job is good, but I will not take it right now. I want to focus on my shooting first," Sarabjot told reporters. "My family has also been asking me to get a decent job, but I want to pursue shooting. I don’t want to go against the decisions that I have made, so I cannot take a job right now."
Sarabjot Singh also revealed his ambition to shoot for gold at the LA Olympics in 2028. In an interview with India Today, Singh said, "I am yet to achieve my main goal. Hopefully, I will complete my main goal in 2028. I used to write in my personal diary that I will give my personal best in Paris. However, I am yet to give my personal best. I want to shoot for gold in 2028," Sarabjot told India Today in an exclusive interview.
