The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has marked an inspiring comeback in cricket. The Indian cricketer who is currently in Australia with Team India for the T20 World Cup 2022, was named in the 15-member squad after his brilliant performance as a finisher in the IPL. But what has been shocking is his exclusion from the Men in Blue side for their upcoming tours.

Yes, you heard it right. D inesh Karthik has been excluded for Team India’s squad for the upcoming New Zealand and Bangladesh tours. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson have been named in the four squads over the experienced player. Does this been the end of career for the 37-year-old? BCCI Chief Selector Chetan Sharma answered this question during the press conference.

Chetan Sharma, who addressed the press conference while announcing the squads for the upcoming tours, revealed that Karthik was named to manage his workload management. The Chief Selector also hinted that the team is looking towards a different setup for the next edition of World Cup.

“We're focusing on the workload management. Dinesh Karthik hasn't been picked but he's available for selection. We want to try a different set up after T20 World Cup. The doors are open for him,” he said.

With ODI World Cup scheduled to take place in 2023 in India, the next edition of T20 World Cup will be held in 2024 in West Indies.
