The England and Lucknow Super Giants pacer, Mark Wood, who has played just four matches in the IPL 2023 so far, is reportedly set to miss the last stages of the tournament. The pacer has missed the last two matches for his IPL franchise due to illness, however, he has shown his sensational form in the four matches he has played for LSG so far.

If reports are to be believed, Wood will miss the final stages of the IPL in order to be present for the birth of his daughter in May. As reported by ESPNCricinfo, he and his wife Sarah are expecting the birth to be in the latter part of May. Mark Wood has been a great find for the Lucknow Super Giants as he has picked up 11 wickets in just four games and also has the record for the best bowling figures in an inning for his 5/14 against Delhi Capitals.

Although Mark Wood might miss some part of the IPL towards its business end, other English players are set to be available for the entire season. England will play a one-off Test match against Ireland at the Lords', starting on June 1, but the England Cricket Board is not likely to pull any player out from the IPL early as they have promised the BCCI the player's participation for the entirety of the season.

Talking about his IPL franchise, Lucknow Super Giants are currently ranked at the third position in the points table and will clash against the Punjab Kings on Friday (April 28) in Mohali.
