Analysis
The middle order of the West Indies batting lineup has taken up the responsibility to score runs in the first two matches of the T20I series, after losing early wickets in the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran has been by far the best batter of the team, putting together important runs at vital times to help the hosts achieve back-to-back victories. In the bowling department, Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd have been exceptional, not only in curtailing runs, but also in picking up wickets at various stages of the innings.
Meanwhile, the Indian batting team has struggled at the top of the order, especially with the lack of scores from the likes of Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav. In the middle order, the newest debutant Tilak Varma has managed to give some respectability to the Indian score, but it has been far from enough. The bowling lineup hasn’t done badly for the Men in Blue, including players like Yuzvendra Chahal and the stand-in captain Hardik Pandya, but a lack of complete performance is definitely visible.
