The 2023 edition of the biggest Tennis tournament, Wimbledon is right around the corner, and needless to say the forthcoming edition is going to be full of magical moments, and several thrilling clashes. While many big names are making a return in the prestigious tournament, including Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and legend Venus Williams. 

Not only this but a lot of young tennis stars, including Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are also eyeing their first Wimbledon title this year.   However, as the tournament is set to begin on July 3 and will go on till July 16, several big names in the game, including Rafael Nadal will miss the 2023 season. 

The 22-Grand Slam winner, including two-time Wimbledon champion, Rafael Nadal has played several titles, including last year’s French Open, where he revealed taking injections daily in his foot in the competition. 

Over the years, due to the several re-occurrences of injuries, Nadal has missed 11 Grand Slams across his career, which includes this year’s Wimbledon as well. Nadal suffered a hip injury during the third round of the Australian Open this year, and owing to that, he has pulled himself out of the remainder of the 2023 season. 

Notably, Nadal won the prestigious trophy twice, once in 2008, when he took down Roger Federer. The next time he won the title was in 2010 when he defeated Tomas Berdych in straight sets. Nadal will be back in 2024, which is believed to be his last season. After his French Open withdrawal, Nadal said “My intention is for 2024 to be my last year”.
