The Indian subcontinent is set to host the Women’s ODI World Cup later this year. However, the dates are yet to be confirmed, recent reports have confirmed that the tournament will tentatively start in September with the final scheduled to be played in October.
Sources close to the developments have also confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has picked five venues to host the Women’s World Cup with Visakhapatnam likely to host the opening fixture. It is to be noted that the ICC tourament will coincide with the Indian domestic season and the men’s fixtures.

While the Indian cricket board is looking at Vizag to host the tournament opener, the BCCI has also shortlisted four other venues. According to BCCI sources, the other venues include Punjab, Mullanpur, Indore, Trivandrum and Guwahati. This development comes after a BCCI Apex Council Meeting, where other agends related to Indian cricket were also discussed.
“The apex council has agreed on five venues and now it will be sent to the ICC, which needs to give the final approval since it is a global event,” a source was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Seeing the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 coincide with the men’s cricketing calendar, India will be playing against West Indies in the first week of October. The first Test will be played in Mohali, while the second will be staged in Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which marks a return of Test cricket after six years.
