Just a couple of days are left before the start of the much awaited IPL 2025. In the upcoming edition, all eyes will be on star Chennai Super Kings wicketkeeper MS Dhoni as he will be seen in cricketing action after an year. From the last few IPL seasons, there has always been speculation regarding Dhoni’s future in the cash-rich league. However, the legendary wicketkeeper is set to play another season despite several rumours of his retirement. Now, as another IPL season begins, the speculations again start regarding Dhoni.
Speaking about Dhoni, former cricketer and member of 2021 IPL winning CSK side, Robin Uthappa said that he won’t be ‘surprised’ if Dhoni decided to call of his cricketing career after the end of IPL 2025. “I don’t think the passion ever dies. MS’ love for the game has not dwindled at all. I think his passion for the game keeps him going. At 43, I think he’s got the fastest hands in the world as a wicketkeeper,” Uthappa said as quoted in News18.
“And if you’ve got those skills and if you’ve got the passion to keep going. I don’t think anything should stop you. I won’t be surprised if he retires at the end of the season. But I won’t be surprised if he even goes on to play for another four seasons after this," said Uthappa.
Robin Uthappa predicts good IPL season for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Speaking further, Robin Uthappa also predicted that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to have a good season in IPL 2025. The former cricketer said that the two seniors members of the Indian Cricket team will thrive in the upcoming season.
“I don’t think they’ll have even an iota of issues to come out there and smash the living daylights out of bowlers. Virat has really come through in good form. He’s familiar with conditions in Bangalore that he’s always going to thrive there," Uthappa said.
“In the recent past, Rohit hasn’t lived up to his potential as the incredibly dynamic batter that he is in the IPL. But it looks like everything is going his way at this point in time. So, I wouldn’t put it past him to have one of his best seasons in the IPL," he added.
