Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra made a surprising remark about SunRisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins about his future in the franchise. The 2025 season of the Indian Premier League will have a mega auction reportedly in the next one month and fans are waiting in anticipation and excitement about what retention franchises will make. One franchise which will have many eyes set on will be SunRisers Hyderabad, considering the stars this squad has.
Pat Cummins was roped in as the skipper of the franchise last year for INR 20.5 Crore, and it will be seen if the Hyderabad-based franchise would retain him or not. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that SRH won’t aim to retain Cummins for a huge amount of INR 18 Crore on him, considering it is the amount a franchise needs to pay for first and fourth retention.

The former Indian cricketer spoke on his YouTube channel and commented on Pat Cummins’ future in the cash-rich league. He said, "Pat Cummins has said that he doesn't know whether he will come for the IPL or not because other things are there, that it's a non-stop treadmill, it is difficult, the priorities are different, the tent poles are the Ashes and World Cups, and it's okay if the IPL fits in somewhere in between. He also said that new rules have come.”
He added, "Although he even added that he hasn't ever missed, he has never gone back after putting his name in the auction. However, Mitchell Starc and other players have gone. I feel the SunRisers Hyderabad won't retain him. They won't give him 18 crores. I am getting a feeling like that, although he bowled and captained well.”
