The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, November 7, announced the list of players retained and released by the five Women Premier League (WPL) franchises. The two-time runners-up, Delhi Capitals Women have more or less similar faces who will continue to feature in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
Whereas, the side has let go of experienced Poonam Yadav, who has played only three games so far in the tournament. Although, the 33-year-old Indian finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup, she hasn’t got a wicket to her name in the WPL so far. On the other hand, the runners-up have also released Australia batter Laura Harris.
Speaking after the retention list for WPL 2025, DC Women Head Coach Jonathan Batty said, "We have an incredibly strong squad, and have played some brilliant cricket over the past two seasons. It’s always a tough decision for us to let go of these players, who’ve been an integral part of our success. I wish them the very best."
