Rhea Ripley, the current WWE Women’s World Champion, has announced her real-life engagement with Buddy Matthews, a professional wrestler from AEW. The 26-year-old sent out a post on her official Instagram account to share the special news with one and all, on August 9, Wednesday.
The Australian WWE superstar, whose real name is Demi Bennett, had confirmed her relationship with the AEW wrestler, real name Matthew Adams, in May of last year. Buddy Matthews, the 34-year-old, was once a part of the WWE roster for eight years, under the ring name of Buddy Murphy, from 2013 to 2021.

During his tenure with the promotion, he won the NXT Tag Team Championship, WWE Tag Team Championship, and WWE Cruiserweight Championship. After taking a 8-month break, he signed for All Elite Wrestling, holding the AEW World Trios Championship currently with Brody King and Malakai Black.
The photograph from Rhea Ripley, confirming the engagement on Instagram, had her hand on Buddy Matthews’ shoulder with the beautiful ring clearly visible. She captioned it, “1000x YES! Pure Fucking happiness!,” with a heart emoji.
Around the same time, Buddy Matthews also posted a picture of himself with Rhea Ripley on his official Instagram account. He shared a heartwarming caption along with it, which read, “My sunshine in the Sunshine!”.
As a big part of one of the most popular groups in WWE, the Judgement Day, Rhea Ripley has changed the face of women's wrestling for the better. Her on-screen pairing with Dominik Mysterio has grabbed all the headlines in the recent weeks and months, solidifying her stature as one of the best women’s superstars in WWE history.
