Barcelon a’s Antoine Griezmann nightmare is set to end as the Blaugrana coach has confirmed the Frenchman’s exit. The 31-year-old is currently on loan at his former club Atletico Madrid and will join the same team on a permanent deal. Both these clubs have been locking horns on the Griezmann deal as the contract includes a special clause.

The terms of the loan agreement stated that Madrid is set to pay €40m to sign Griezmann permanently if he played 45 minutes or more in 50% of the matches for the two-year period. But now, Barcelona coach Xavi has confirmed the deal, suggesting that the Blaugrana have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

He also wished Griezmann the best of luck in his future endeavours. “It's not official yet… but if there's an agreement, so we are all happy. I can only wish the player the best,” said Xavi as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Griezmann’s deal makes him another major player in a major squad overhaul at Barcelona this summer.

The fee regarding the transfer hasn't been officially announced yet but as per the report, Barcelona will receive a payment of €20 million in fixed fees plus another €4 million in variables to part ways with Griezmann permanently. The 31-year-old joined Barcelona in 2019 for a massive fee of around €120 million. He never found his form at Camp Nou as he only managed to score just 35 goals and 17 assists in his 102 appearances.

Talking about Griezmann’s current season, he has been coming off the bench in six of Atletico's seven LaLiga games so far, and in two of their three Champions League group matches. In all these games, the Frenchman has scored thrice while assisting once.
